The Create a Healthier Niagara Falls Collaborative invites residents, families, and walkers to its annual Walk the Falls coming up on Saturday at Hyde Park, by the playground. This a family friendly event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1p.m.

The Create a Healthier Niagara Falls Collaborative hosts a walk every year as an opportunity for residents to reconnect to each other, the waterfront, the resources and the little wonders throughout the city of Niagara Falls. This year, the collaborative chose to highlight Hyde Park, the second largest municipal park after Central Park in the state. It offers many options for physical and family-oriented activities. Yet it is under-utilized. The Walk the Falls will take participants around the park and allow them to see all these options.

Activities include a 2.5 mile run/walk for adults and children, giant games for big and little ones, opportunity to try out several activities such as bocce and tennis, refreshments, music and a variety of local vendors.

The event is sponsored by many partners including the New York State Health Foundation and is free to all; visit www.healthierniagarafalls.orgor call 777-1034 to pre-register. Registering the day of the event is also possible starting at 8:30 a.m. The walk will start at 9 a.m. and participants are encouraged to enjoy the rest of the activities until 1 p.m.
